So, after much deliberating between us and canvassing others opinions at Ogg Camp, Philip finally did the dirty deed today and handed in his resignation notice. Yes, that’s right, you read it correctly – Philip has given up a well paid, full time job to go self employed!
I have always had more belief in Philip’s abilities as a web developer, programmer and sys admin than he has, but he has finally listened to she-who-must-be-obeyed and agreed that now is the time to see if he can make a go of it on his own. I even managed to blag him his first job today; giving a talk about CrunchBang Linux to Hull LUG on the 6th September. Just a pity I forgot to negotiate a rate of pay!
Philip has my full support and backing, and I wish him the very best of luck as he strikes out on his new venture. Exciting times ahead and here’s hoping for a long and successful career for him as a freelancer.

Very brave, I wish him the best of luck.
gotta do what you gotta do. there’s no time like the present. good sailing.
Rate of pay?
Sorry we don’t understand that concept of this side of the Humber
Wow. Great luck to him. I’m sure he’ll do well. Good to read he’s got such a staunch supporter too. That can make all the difference sometimes.
Wishing you the absolute best in your endeavors… I have no doubt your will be successful…
I was a freelance consultant for 23 years and except for the travel and terrible food in some places, it was fantastic…
@ she-who-must-be-obeyed – Make sure that Philip takes all his vitamins and eats well!!
Good Luck!
@gicoupar & @billy – thanks for your words of encouragement!
@Dave – I was only joking; we are happy to have been invited along to meet you guys. Just need to make sure we’ve had our innoculations for travelling over the Humber Bridge
@Richard – I have always been his biggest fan and supporter, and always will be.
@VastOne – I’ve threatened him with only eating baked beans on toast until he starts bringing some paid work in, but strangely, he got excited about that! He loves baked beans and reckons they have every nutrient/vitamin that you need for a balanced diet
Good luck to him. I may be in touch soon about some website development work.
@Jon – Thank you for your comment. Philip can be contacted directly at corenominal@corenominal.org, I know that he would appreciate any work that you can put his way.
Way to go @corenominal! Best of luck to you in your new venture!
“she-who-must-be-obeyed” LMAO! The very best of luck to both of you!
@hilltop_yodeler & @jargon – Thank you both for your good wishes.
Well done Phillip! Good luck!
Hope to see a promotional/professional website from you soon so we can all spread the word, and get those jobs coming in.
rich
@rich-lxh – Thanks, he’s working on the website ATM. I will link to it once it goes “live”.
